SUMMARY: This is a full time position with the Squaxin Island Tribe, located in Shelton, WA. The Pharmacy Technician position assists with preparation, dispensing, stocking prescriptions per pharmacist orders. This position will require intermittent solidarity to dispense already filled medications. This position will also assist with pharmacy front desk operations such as answering telephones, taking messages, greeting patients etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Performs duties within scope of practice and as delegated by a licensed pharmacist.

· Receives and enters orders from providers into the pharmacy computer medication profile.

· Validates patient information according to state and federal regulations.

· Prepares outpatient prescriptions in accordance with standards of pharmacy practice for pharmacist.

· Attends and participates in pharmacy and clinic.

· Assist with administrative pharmacy duties

· Adheres to pharmacy manual to train new personnel and have quick reference to specific job duties.

· Assists with billing and checking orders

· Takes payment for over the counter and prescription purchases as appropriate.

· Attends drug in services and keeping up with policy changes.

· Maintain competency in caring for patients.

· Answers patient phone calls and voice mails.

· Must comply with HIPAA standards.

· Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervision responsibilities.

Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid pharmacy technician certificate. Must have a current Washington State Driver’s License.

Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have valid certification as Pharmacy Technician. Also BA OR an AA and 2 years’ experience working in a pharmacy.

Requires knowledge of drugs and pharmacy practice appropriate for position. Work is verified by Licensed Pharmacist.
