Strategic Retail Analyst

Location: Austell, GA
Pay: $85k – 95k plus comprehensive benefits
Position Type: Full-time, permanent placement; Hybrid role – 4 days onsite, 1 day remote

Our team at The Recruiting Pros is conducting a search for a talented Strategic Retail Analyst for a well-established yet growing distributor of branded consumer products. In this key role, you will support the company’s omni-channel retail strategy by supporting the sales team to ensure the success of customer specific projects, i.e., product launches, new item set-ups, promotional and event tracking, trade spend effectiveness and more. You will provide accurate and detailed sales analytics and analysis, reporting, and forecasting related to multiple integrated digital and physical touchpoints, including physical stores, websites, social media, etc. for primary retail accounts including Target, Walmart, Staples and more. To be successful in this influential role you will leverage your experience using analytical tools and methodologies to recommend data-driven short and long-range plans to drive sales growth, improve margins and optimize inventory levels while providing ongoing communication and updates for cross-functional and diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Routine responsibilities will require you to:

  • Partner with sales teams, finance, demand planning, and customer buying/planning teams to develop comprehensive and accurate consensus-driven forecasts related to shipments, inventory, and POS
  • Develop appropriate processes and analytical routines to provide visibility into sales and customer performance as well as inventory levels at the regional and store level; suggest and build regional/market clusters to improve sales, margins and turnover
  • Analyze sales and inventory trends and research demand drivers to drive sales growth and improve profitability based on data-driven analysis and findings
  • Make visible and share regular and ad-hoc reporting focused on business performance with emphasis on shipments, inventory level and POS
  • Analyze point-of-sale data to understand and identify business performance, key trends; recommend opportunities to improve performance of products and programs within assigned retailers
  • Identify trends and gaps by product category and make recommendations to improve sales strategies, marketing and merchandising execution
  • Use accurate sales and inventory trends to recommend reorders on fast selling products and suggest alternative measures on slower selling products
  • Minimize financial impact of customer compliance programs via collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Collaborate with sales and channel marketing teams to provide necessary analytics and reporting to ensure successful and productive line reviews, partnership planning meetings, internal meetings, etc.
  • Provide a seamless, effortless, high-quality customer experience within and between contact channels, whether directly or as a result of your team contribution
  • Use tools and resources to remain up to date with current/future/fading business trends, economic conditions, customer initiatives, and historical knowledge to provide support to business unit, marketing and sales teams
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required education and experience:

  • B.S. degree in Business, Data Analytics, Retail Management, Marketing or related field strongly preferred
  • 8+ years experience providing data-driven sales analytics leading to successful omni-channel retail strategies required
  • Working knowledge of supporting customer partnerships with Lowe's, Walmart, Target, Wayfair or other big box retailers required
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Word / PowerPoint, Tableau, Lowe's VPP, Walmart Retail Link, Target Partners Online required
  • Ability to present and communicate complex analysis and results to a broad audience
  • Ability to perform daily duties in a confident, credible manner; providing clarification, insight and follow through regarding questions or concerns of the team and/or customers
  • Knowledge of marketing and sales terminology, concepts, and business operating procedures
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of accounting and reporting principles and practices
