Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is a vital role to our organization and will provide oversight of operating accounts, analyze the day-to-day aspects of the organization’s operational accounting, finance management practices, and accounting requirements. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting a high level analysis of revenue, expenses, credit expenses and overhead. You will also serve as and advisor to our management on critical decisions regarding expenses, revenue, accounting practices, financial record keeping and other functions. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing report and data analysis for membership reports, income, expenses, vendor products, corporate sponsorship and events.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for all financial accounts
- Conduct monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations
- Present quarterly and yearly financial reports to management
- Review financial statements, expenses and previous tax returns to identify the best strategy for organizing and monitoring
- Preform general bookkeeping and organize financial forms, documents and receipts
- Ensure all financial transactions within the company are accounted for and follow financial standards
- Analyze annual budget; identify transactions in need of follow-up documentation
- Create invoices and request payment for services rendered
- Gather appropriate materials regarding yearly tax tables, instructions and forms to accurately calculate dues/assessments for members
- Execute financial procedures and ledger maintenance
- Takes lead role in project-based work
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Job Requirements
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting with 3+ years of accounting management experience.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office Suite with advanced excel skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet timely obligations with many clients; works well under pressure with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and solve complex problems
- Knowledge of accounting processes and advanced mathematical skills
- Skilled in using various accounting software and experience in troubleshooting common accounting program problems; advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and iMIS or comparable membership databases/software
- Professional experience in financial analysis
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive information with the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Exceptional communication (oral and written) and customer service skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and internal controls
- Excellent organizational skills
- Collaborate with others in the organization, good team player
Position Work Hours: General office hours are M-F 8:00 – 5:00 PM (EST preferred) with stretch timelines on critical days of the month and special events/conferences as needed.
Position Location: Remote/Hybrid – 85% of the role is remote, with the requirement to travel to our corporate headquarters on an as-needed basis with advanced notice. All remote/hybrid employees are required to be available and present during core business hours, as well as adhere to our remote work policy.
