Join Our Team as a Cutting Machine Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cutting Machine Operator to set up and operate machines in a fast-paced production environment. This role involves monitoring operations, adjusting equipment as needed, and recording operational data to ensure that products meet precise specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read work orders to determine product specifications and material requirements, including samples, kits, and lengths.
  • Set up, connect, and adjust equipment based on order requirements.
  • Manually position, adjust, and feed material to complete orders accurately.
  • Cut materials according to customer specifications, ensuring high quality and precision.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the materials and machines used.
  • Utilize machines for maximum efficiency and maintain accurate records of cut parts in the database.
  • Verify that jobs meet specified tolerances, making necessary adjustments as needed.
  • Notify the supervisor of any equipment malfunctions.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized daily.
  • Anticipate the need for heat-treated materials and prepare templates for cutting jobs from customer drawings when required.
  • Control cuts using color mapping programs and perform maintenance and cleaning of the laser machine as applicable.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.

  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    • Proficiency with machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
    • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and material handling.
    • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and RF scanning.
    • Strong communication skills, including active listening and verbal communication.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
    • Keen attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
    • Ability to handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to stand or sit for sustained periods, as required by the job.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Applying constant pressure to materials using fingers and palms.
  • Frequent hand and wrist movements.
  • Regularly lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Sharp vision required for examining and inspecting materials.

Work Environment:

  • Production environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
  • Noise levels typically range from moderate to high.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
