Job Summary: As a Fabrication Supervisor/Fabrication Lead, you will oversee and ensure the safe setup, operation, and shutdown of various CNC fabricating, forming, and VMC machines. You will be responsible for maintaining high-quality standards in machine parts and production units. Additionally, you will train, work with, and sometimes lead continuous improvement teams to enhance our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform 1st piece setup and inspection against engineering drawings, ensuring efficient and accurate production runs.
  • Conduct routine quality checks during setup and address any issues that arise during production.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor and Team Leader to prioritize work according to the job board.
  • Organize, sharpen, and maintain tools, dies, and other equipment.
  • Train and instruct operators based on Supervisor’s guidelines.
  • Plan ahead for materials, fixtures, and paperwork to ensure seamless job transitions.
  • Perform routine setup and troubleshooting of machines.
  • Maintain machine tooling by cleaning and checking tools regularly.
  • Communicate with Supervisor or Team Leader about any problems and prioritize setup of the next job.
  • Conduct basic quality checks and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts are within tolerance.
  • Load/unload machines and verify part accuracy using proper QC measuring equipment.
  • Perform lower-level duties such as filing and sanding as needed.
  • Handle any job within the department, including setup and troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and policies, maintaining good housekeeping practices.
  • Inform management of any hazardous situations in the work environment.
  • Participate in and lead Continuous Improvement Teams as required.
  • Maintain workstation cleanliness according to 5S procedures.
  • Proactively prevent and report workplace hazards or injuries
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED, or technical certification preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience operating specialized equipment /operating and setting up CNC equipment, press brakes, and turrets.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience.
  • Basic math, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use and interpret measurement tools like tape measures and calipers.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, BOMs, and procedures.
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC equipment.
  • Ability to identify, participate in, lead, and communicate process improvements.
  • Capability to train others in CNC manufacturing techniques.
  • Understanding of basic lean principles such as 5S and Kanban.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
