JOB SUMMARY:

The Logistics Supervisor works in a fast-paced environment supporting a Stevedoring warehouse port terminal and oversees the terminal shipping & receiving, logistics, and inventory departments. The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the movement of inbound and outbound material shipments entering and leaving the port via cargo vessel, truck, and rail car. Organize and freight movement, including supply chain and vendor management. Collaborate with service providers and prioritize attention to detail, professionalism, and follow-through. Assist in managing freight and logistics projects to ensure they meet or exceed business expectations.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the department coordinator for document retention and management.
  • Coordinate product movement throughout the life cycle of each shipment while working closely with internal departments and external vendors and customers.
  • Monitor shipment stow plans and order entry through delivery to ensure on-time performance.
  • Coordinate proper material handling with the warehouse supervisor, operation supervisors, and terminal manager to ensure the proper loading and unloading of cargo vessels, railcars, and trucks.
  • Plan and schedule daily and weekly workloads. Be flexible, react quickly to change, and adapt to workload as production needs change.
  • Responsible for receiving, handling, and storing products in coordination with the terminal manager/assistant terminal manager.
  • Ensure that product inventory audits and cycle counts are completed and verified promptly and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Quickly and reliably resolve logistics service issues, supply, process, and equipment concerns, questions and/or problems, and escalate to management when necessary.
  • Provide clear, consistent, and professional communication to customers via email or phone call. Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing questions, and logistic needs, and promptly resolving concerns and issues.
  • Ensuring that all employees are informed of their job responsibilities and are cross-trained in multiple areas to support staff development and growth.
  • Observe employees' performance, provide proper training, and enforce accountability for conduct and performance.
  • Enforces all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Associate degree or 4 years experience providing senior-level coordination and administrative support.
  • Working knowledge of Stevedoring warehouse, shipping & Receiving, and inventory process and procedures.
  • Must have a strong command of Microsoft Office programs, including advanced level of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to completion.
  • High level of flexibility and ability to function in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Successfully balance multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and supervise other’s work.

Education & Experience Requirement:

  • Knowledge and willingness to perform all responsibilities of each position within the team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, respectful and kind to self and others.
  • Resourceful, well-organized, and dependable.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate with diverse personalities.
  • Comfortable serving in a leadership role.

  • Experience with AS400/ WMS systems. (a plus)
  • Good understanding of warehouse operations.
  • Intermediate skill level in Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with export requirements and documents.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • This job requires physical abilities such as standing and walking long distances, the Ability to regularly stand, walk long distances, and talk and hear.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms to grab, handle or feel, and reach.
  • Ability to occasionally sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl.
  • Ability to occasionally climb ladders or stairs.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds, with assistance or lifting machinery as necessary.
  • Must wear enstructure required safety PPE, Safety vest, hard hat, gloves, etc.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Working indoors and outdoors.
  • Excessive heat or cold, and extreme weather conditions, excessive humidity or dampness or chilling.
  • Slippery and uneven walking surfaces.
  • Work around machinery with moving parts.
  • Work around moving objects, vehicles, and moving machinery/heavy equipment.

Monday - Friday with Weekends and Holidays as needed.
