Position Summary: The HR Manager is responsible for administering policies and managing all phases of human resources activity, payroll processing, and employee relations for multi-state business operations. Develops and oversees the implementation of IE’s people-related and personal development strategies. Manages and oversees HR policies, legal compliance, compensation, and benefits policies
Work Schedule: 100% In-Office Position
Essential Functions. Other Duties May Be Assigned.
Employee Relations
- Remains current and up to date on most current legal, political and government reporting regulations to ensure human resource and payroll policies, procedures, and reporting, comply.
- Responds to and makes self available to employees for inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. Makes recommendations, provides solutions, and resolves issues as challenges arise.
- Through communication with company leadership, demonstrates a thorough understanding of business/brand strategies and objectives, the competitive landscape, current and potential future business challenges, and tailors HR strategy and processes accordingly.
- Ensures performance or grievance issues are handled in a professional and legally compliant manner
- Advises management in the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
- Trains management in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, and sexual harassment issues.
People Development
- Constantly seeks to improve the employee lifecycle process that includes recruiting, hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and development, to encourage low turnover, high engagement, and depth of talent at all levels of the organization.
- Responsible for overseeing successful succession planning
- Develops short and long-term training programs; ensures execution and accountability of these plans
- Responsible for managing and improving the performance management system to better support coaching and development, while providing accurate feedback to managers and employees.
Compensation/Benefits
- Administers benefits programs such as health, dental, life, EAP, and disability insurance; retirement; and PTO.
- Works with employees to educate them about their benefits and assists with any issues as necessary.
- Actively evaluates the benefits packages offered by the company to ensure
- Administers salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within the organization.
- Uses Companalyst tools and other wage survey information to determine competitive wage rates.
Payroll
- Oversees and ensures that payroll is accurately completed on time and in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws.
- Maintains accurate payroll records; Retains and maintains payroll records in compliance with applicable laws.
- Ensures files and payroll information is secure and confidential.
- Continuously evaluates the payroll process to improve efficiency and ensure employee satisfaction.
Team Leadership
- Responsible for managing HR Generalists and Assistants across multiple states.
- Provide mentoring and suggest personal development opportunities for the HR team, as well as other hiring managers and company leaders.
Other
- Oversees the development and maintenance of accurate job descriptions
- Year-end compliance
- Prepares censuses as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- B.S. Degree in Human Resource Administration or a closely related field plus seven to ten years of progressively responsible HR management experience in a multiple-location environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. SPHR preferred
- Strategic thinker and problem-solver with the ability to create thoughtful, actionable, and achievable plans that allow for team alignment.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and execution of employee training programs, retention, and organizational change initiatives.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Clear understanding of employment law, including FMLA, WARN, OSHA, FLSA, and other applicable state and federal laws
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office software; HRIS systems (Paylocity), and payroll systems.
- Background in policy development and implementation.
- Strong background in employee relations including experience in investigations and legal issues.
- Knowledge of payroll, including employee timekeeping, tax withholdings, deductions, benefits, etc.
- Demonstrated people management skills in an ethical/respectful environment with the ability to motivate and develop staff
