Perform Quality Engineering and Metrology Activities. Provide direction on the selection and application of proper Gauging Methods. Oversees Metrology Lab Process and Calibration. Develop and/or execute CMM and other gage inspection methods for R&D and Prototype components. Participate in QMS and continuous improvement activities.


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

· Ensure that customer requirements are addressed during APQP-New Product Development Process including but not limited to; gauging selection and evaluation, participation in development and maintenance of PFCs and PFMEAs, control plans, performing MSA studies and dimensional lay outs, assembling customer PPAPs and reviewing Supplier PPAPs.

· Participates in design reviews throughout new product development cycle and provides feedback and direction within field of expertise.

· Safely utilizes various hand gauges, bench top tools, CMM equipment to inspect complex components, fixtures and tools following strict adherence to blueprints.

· Participate and/or facilitate 8D activities with supplier and customer concerns.

· Participate in quality systems audits with Suppliers, Customers and Registrar. Oversees calibration of all engineering gages and instruments. Manages MRB and NCMR process. Support Center of Excellence Quality Management System procedures.

· Mastery level expertise in various specialty competencies, including automotive level quality tools for manufacturing and metrology. Is recognized by Gits Mfg. and customers/suppliers as a subject matter expert. Continuously develops own knowledge through technical journals, seminars, advanced degree programs. Monitors relevant internal/external developments, translates them into solution/methodologies for own expertise area. Is an ambassador for this expertise area in order to maintain and improve the knowledge base of Gits Mfg.

· Builds and maintains relationships with key customers, suppliers, manufacturing sites and Center of Excellence team members.

· Supports issue resolution at manufacturing sites and field service / warranty of production products by measuring and reporting findings of suspect components and assemblies.

Requirements:

· BS Technical degree with 5+ year of experience, or 5+ years of technical work experience with ASQ CQE Certification or willing to certify within a year.

· Proficient in interpreting mechanical drawings and GD&T dimensioning required.

· Demonstrated ability to inspect parts using adequate gauging and fixturing.

· Knowledge of CMM programming software such as Mcosmos or equivalent.

· Knowledge of AIAG MSA techniques. Capable of explaining and performing GRR studies, Gauge resolution requirements, bias, stability.

· Experience in the automotive industry or similar field adhering to ISO/IATF requirements, using phased gate development procedures, and process in accordance with APQP/VDA standards

· Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)

· Leadership and people skills

· Demonstrated problem solving ability

· 6 Sigma experience preferred

· Data driven ability to make timely decisions

· Knowledge and understanding of 8D, A3, Fishbone Diagram and Why-Why problem-solving processes is required.

· Discusses progress and barriers of own activities with internal stakeholders (Quality manger, engineers, validation manager, project leader).

· Disseminate comprehensive knowledge of quality and metrology practices/procedures driving the completion of complex product development assignments

· Work directly with technical counterparts at global automotive OEMs and Suppliers to specify, design, and execute APQP, Gaging and Inspection Plans and Results.

· Interact with Gits Mfg. Plants partners in support of Quality and Metrology Activities
