Project Solar is changing the way solar is sold The company began when Trevor Hiltbrand, our CEO, shopped around for solar and was shocked by the price and the pushy sales process. As he dove more into the solar industry, Trevor realized that massive savings could be passed on to customers if door-to-door salespeople were removed from the process and customers purchased solar online. 


Matt Smith joined Trevor and they co-founded Project Solar in 2021. By cutting out the door-knockers and leveraging the power of internet marketing, Project Solar creates a more efficient solution that drastically reduces cost while simultaneously improving the customer experience. 


We raised a $23M Series A round of financing in 2022 and currently have a team of about 40 dedicated team members who are based in our Utah headquarters, or working remotely across the US and Canada. Come join a disruptor who is driving down the cost of clean energy



POSITION OVERVIEW


The Inside Sales Leader is a results-driven leader responsible for building and managing the performance of Project Solar’s inside sales team. Our ecommerce marketing engine delivers high quality leads for the team to close. This role focuses on closing these leads by meeting and exceeding sales targets, developing effective sales strategies and systems, and recruiting the best talent to join and grow the team. The leader will be both strategic and tactical, able to build scalable processes and coach individual reps to increase their performance output. The ideal candidate will have strong solar sales leadership experience and will bring fresh ideas to adapt to the changing market conditions.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets that drive the company to profitability
    • Goals will be related to daily sales activities, contract conversion rate, total number of contracts signed, and customer acquisition cost of purchase, PPA, and DIY deals
  • Build and maintain repeatable and scalable sales processes, systems and strategies that increase the success of each Closer 
    • Discover the best sales methods and practices to increase contract conversion rate and develop and coach these skills across the sales team
  • Provide leadership, feedback, training, coaching, and support to the Inside Sales Closers, fostering a high-performance culture and continuous learning where the team consistently improves their product knowledge, sales techniques and customer service skills
  • Review leading and lagging key performance indicators and use this data to drive and improve performance, including holding individual Closers accountable to the activities and metrics that they need to accomplish
  • Recruit and hire top salespeople that will continue to raise the performance bar across the team 
  • Help Closers develop their messaging to customers that explain the benefits of the different solar solutions and why Project Solar is the customer’s best option for solar
  • Provide training to the Closers on how to improve virtual and phone consultations with customers and how to drive towards a one call close
  • Ensure the team maintains accurate records of interactions with leads and customers in Hubspot.



QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Proven experience in leading a sales team and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets, particularly in the solar industry.
  • Strong leadership, training and motivational skills to inspire and improve a sales team to achieve sales targets
  • Ability to find, recruit and hire top solar salespeople
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, using data to drive solutions and improvements
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, with customers and with employees
  • Takes ownership and is target-driven to meet and exceed sales quotas
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Hubspot preferred.



MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS IN FIRST 90 DAYS:

 

  • Complete ownership of hiring, onboarding, training, systems, processes, and team structure, and each built out so that reps are accountable and successful
  • Organization in place to recruit and hire sales reps in accordance with the hiring plan that are consistently hitting quota
  • Create a strategy to increase team productivity and conversion rate
