Job Description:

As a Reinsurance Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing and reporting on reinsurance accounts. You will ensure the accuracy of reinsurance accounting records and participate in the financial analysis and reporting that supports strategic financial planning and decision-making processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile reinsurance accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual terms.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reinsurance statements and settlements.
  • Analyze and report on reinsurance results and discrepancies, providing detailed explanations for variances.
  • Collaborate with actuaries, underwriters, and claims departments to gather and verify data for accounting and reporting purposes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for reinsurance accounting.
  • Participate in the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.
  • Support the financial forecasting and strategic planning efforts by providing relevant reinsurance data.
  • Stay updated with changes in industry regulations and standards affecting reinsurance accounting.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and statutory accounting principles applicable to reinsurance.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
