Dean’s Professional Services is now hiring a qualified Specimen Processorto work for a Lab Facility in Tampa, FL. - Day Shift

TheSpecimen Processoris responsible for general support functions within the Technical Operations Department.


Job Duties :

  • Opening specimen bags, recording patient samples, and entering inventory and test codes into a computer system
  • Centrifuging, aliquoting, and labeling specimens
  • Ensuring specimens are handled and stored properly
  • Completing quality forms for unacceptable specimens, and investigating and resolving any problems
  • Following all health and safety regulations for handling biohazardous samples
  • Meeting department production goals
  • Packing and shipping specimens to other laboratories
  • Entering patient demographics and test orders into the laboratory information system
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Adheres to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to adapt to change.


Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma – Required
  • Data Entry Background – Required
  • Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour. – Required
  • Previous experience in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits. - Required
  • Basic understanding of computers with a preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.
  • No experience required but previous laboratory experience preferred.
  • Medical background, which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory. – Preferred
  • Previous hospital laboratory experience – Preferred
  • Position requires standing, lifting, and moving the majority of the shift


Job Details:

  • Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am – 6:30 pm
  • Starting at $17/hr. (based on experience) + benefits.
  • Full benefits – healthcare, dental, vision, 401k program.
