Activities Assistant

Garden Spot Village, part of Garden Spot Communities, is currently seeking an Activities Assistant for Full Time Days and Part Time Evenings.

Garden Spot Village, located in New Holland, PA, is a Retirement Community offering innovative options for residential living, and also wellness and healthcare services.

Job Title: Activities Assistant

Status: Full Time and Part Time

Schedule:

  • FT Days working 9am-5:30pm, including every other weekend and holidays
  • PT Evenings working 4pm-8pm, including every other weekend and holidays

Salary Range: Starting at $15/hr, based on experience

What will I do in this role with Garden Spot?

  • Complies with established policies and procedures and maintains established standards and practices including the Compliance Program/Code of Conduct.
  • Attends in-service education programs and completes all annual required on-line training.
  • Follows Residents' Rights policies at all times. Ensure residents privacy, respect, dignity, and rights are protected as per State and Federal Regulations.
  • Practice safety to self and residents and report any unsafe conditions which may result in bodily injury of residents.
  • Observes infection control procedures related to the Resident Life Experience Team.?
  • Conducts and completes MDS interviews and assessments as they relate to the Resident Life Experience Team.
  • Participates in resident care plan meetings, as needed.
  • Participates in nursing restorative and rehabilitative programs, as requested.
  • Plans and implements programs for individual, group and 1:1 activities based on residents' choice and needs.
  • Communicates with families as needed to make them aware of how their loved one is living with purpose.
  • Assists with trips and outings.
  • Complete all necessary documentation (including electronic) in accordance with State Regulatory requirements and facility policy.
  • Conducts selected activities directly and oversees other staff and volunteer involvement in activity programming on all shifts.
  • Supervises and directs volunteers involved in assisting resident life experience programs.
  • Partner with Dining Services, Social Services, Volunteer Services and other GSV Resident Life Experience Coordinators for facility wide programs, and Mountain View special events
  • Assist residents during mealtimes with eating, as requested (must take the "Helping Hands" class prior to assisting)
  • Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
  • Consistently works cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants, and ancillary service providers.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of program policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Facilitate abundant opportunities to live with purpose in community. Assist staff in recognizing person-centered values by encouraging self-determination for residents and residents taking a role in the daily life of where they live. Other duties as assigned to provide support and carry out an effective resident engagement program.
  • Perform other reasonable related business duties as assigned by the Resident Life Experience Director and Nursing Home Administrator.
  • Partners with the Resident Life Experience Coordinator in Skilled Nursing Households to complete monthly calendar.
  • Attends daily stand-up meetings and updates Resident Life Experience department.
  • Manages monthly budget for their area, meets with Resident Life Experience Director as needed.
  • Communicates with families, residents, and staff regarding household events.
  • Keep knowledge base current with continued education.
  • Keep event areas and storage areas tidy and in an orderly fashion.
  • Keep bulletin boards updated and interesting.

What do I need for this role with Garden Spot?

  • Must be 18 and have either a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in long-term care preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to drive 14 passenger bus, minivan, or car as needed and as comfortable.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aide certification.
