POSITION OVERVIEW: Metallurgist

Reporting to the Sr Metallurgist, the Metallurgist will coordinate with Process staff to achieve daily and monthly workflow production targets, analyze test work results, generate reports and work in conjunction with other site department representatives to complete projects in a Safe and Environmentally sound manner. Will be involved with leach pad production planning to achieve Annual and Life of Mine targets, reagent monitoring and reporting, troubleshooting and evaluation of plant and pad performance and coordination of gold production plans with operations and maintenance. When necessary, modify existing or create new operating procedures and other tools that will ensure maximum value is achieved.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide precise and accurate metallurgical accounting and reporting.
• Assist in development of metallurgical and ore characterization test programs.
• Performance goals for production & cost
• Provide metallurgical input into environmental reporting.
• Proper metallurgical sampling methods are used.
• Provide training and documentation of QA/QC compliance for analytical and metallurgical work completed in support of ore control and heap leach and plant optimization.
• Respond to /investigate significant variations from a set plan.
• Review the processing operational parameters (operational targets)
• Understand the principles, operation, and maintenance of all processing unit operations.
• Anticipate and resolve issues that might affect gold production of each unit operation.
• Optimize production from each unit operation.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 years of experience in gold processing operations required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering is required.
• Experienced with heap leach process in gold or copper, metallurgical accounting and ore characterization is preferred.
• Experience with metal planning (production planning) is preferred.
• Experience in manipulating and analyzing large datasets programmatically is required.
• Experience in project work is preferred.
• Experience in heap leach modelling is preferred.
• Experience with heap leach and gold recovery operations preferred.
• Experience with gold production forecasting methods preferred.
• Experience in presenting and publishing high-quality work is required.
• Ability to work in a team environment and excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Work independently with minimal supervision is required.
• Excellent safety record is required.
• Strong computer skills are required.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position is required.

This position will be based at the Florida Canyon mine site near Winnemucca, Nevada.
