We are seeking a part-time Human Resources Generalist. This person will provide support in the execution of a variety of Human Resources programs and policies. The Human Resource Generalist will utilize strong customer service skills to support the goal of the Office of Human Resources to provide extraordinary service to current and prospective employees of college and the general public.
This is a part-time, hourly position.
Example of Duties:
- Welcome and assist visitors to the Office of Human Resources.
- Provide assistance with the appointment of new hires ensuring completion of required documents in our onboarding system, including the verification of documents presented for the I-9 Employment Eligibility process.
- Assist in the execution of Human Resource programs including, but not limited to, benefits, leaves, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition and morale, and training and development.
- Attend and participate in meetings related to, but not limited to, disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Conduct exit interviews and summarize findings and trends to bring to the attention of senior management.
- Review grievance plans and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Deliver coaching on performance management to supervisors throughout the college.
- Create and/or maintain electronic records/reports utilizing a variety of software applications including Microsoft Excel, ADP or HRIS systems, and Colleague.
- Provide customer service by responding to and manage telephone and electronic inquiries and requests from internal and external constituents, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Provide support to Human Resources staff and may serve as backup in processing FMLA, ADA, workers compensation claims.
- Complete special projects and tasks as assigned.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices and regulatory changes in Human Resources.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of at least one year of customer service experience; preferably in a Human Resources related environment.
- Some employee relations experience preferred.
- Understanding and experience with labor contracts preferred.
- Knowledge of Human Resources principles, practices and procedures.
- Experience with employee leaves a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Outlook, Microsoft Word/Excel.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
