Alaska Power & Telephone is seeking a full-time Credit and Collection Specialist based in Alaska.

This position is responsible for ensuring all necessary payments from customers and debtors are received.

The duties include monitoring customer accounts receivable and aging, managing the collections process including disconnect notices and shut off service, reviewing and authorizing all payment plans, and documenting debts collected.

This position can be from any AP&T location or an in-home office environment.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the accounts receivable aging and identify overdue accounts
  • Establish and manage the collections process.
  • Managing all customer contact regarding past due balances.
  • Managing the disconnect notices ensuring coordination with business sales.
  • Coordinating with properties for shutting off service.
  • Establishing and authorizing all payment plans.
  • Support Billing Manager when accounts are turned over to collection services.
  • Maintain accounts in Cornerstone Collection Services (CCS). Maintain records of contacts and attempted contacts with delinquent account customers as well as records of any payments collected from the customer.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints concerning billing.
  • Submit regular reports on the status of unpaid accounts and any repayment progress.
  • Monitor Miscellaneous Receivables aging and overdue accounts.
  • Work closely with the CSR manager as needed.
  • Be the first point of contact for phone calls and payments for the billing department.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Requires 4 years' experience with tariff operations, billing systems, industry regulatory environments, or other industry experience in management/leadership role

Physical Requirements of the Job:

  • Work will be performed in a standard office environment with regularly scheduled working hours.
  • Must be capable of safely lifting up to 30 pounds on occasion.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Work may be performed under a remote worker policy
