Alaska Power & Telephone is seeking a full-time Regulatory Specialist based in Alaska. This position works with the Alaska Power & Telephone Regulatory Affairs and Accounting teams to manage ongoing power and telecom regulatory filings and reporting requirements. Task managing the regulatory reporting database, review reporting, validation, and compilation of regulatory documents.

This position can be from any AP&T location or an in-home office environment.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage compliance reporting database, ensuring all reports are filed accurately, and on time.
  • Compile and verify data and financial information in support of reporting requirements, regulatory filings, and informational presentations.
  • A Perform validations to ensure that data sets and financial information are complete and accurate.
  • Assist in the creation of complex documents for regulatory filings, including review, validation, and compilation.
  • Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements and trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related field preferred. Experience may be considered as a substitute for a 4-year degree
  • Must have a working knowledge of economic and financial concepts, principals and techniques
  • Experience with Alaska electrical or telecommunication utilities preferred. Work experience should include preparation of professional documents, data management, and advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and solve nonroutine problems
  • Knowledge of accounting principles is strongly preferred
  • Creativity, good judgment and strong technical and communication skills are essential
  • Must be well organized and can convert data into meaningful and useful information
  • Excellent communication skills and extremely detail orientated
  • Willingness to keep up with the industry changes and adapt to new requirements as regulatory requirements change

  • Excellent written and oral communication

Physical Requirements of the Job:

  • Work will be performed in a standard office environment with regularly scheduled working hours.
  • Must be capable of safely lifting up to 30 pounds on occasion.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Work may be performed under a remote worker policy
