Financial Analyst – Capital Planning & Analysis

Reports to: Senior Manager Capital Planning & Analysis Last Update: June 3, 2024

Overview:

Provides financial and analytical support for a fleet of natural gas compression equipment including asset management/strategy and pricing support. Additionally, supports the management of capital spending oversight, policies, compliance, and reporting.

Essential Duties

- Collaborates with sales and asset management teams to develop and provide monthly/quarterly reporting and analysis for senior management, executive team, and board.

- Utilize a data visualization tool (Power BI) to create and maintain reports to aid in strategic asset decisions and analysis.

- Reviews and facilitates the approval and closure process for fleet capital projects totaling ≈$100 million annually. Ensures compliance with the approved business plan, policies and reporting requirements.

- Develops economic financial models using DCF/NPV/IRR/ROIC analyses to support external pricing decisions and compression asset capital allocation.

- Compiles, analyzes, and summarizes sales data used to align asset pricing to market demand/bookings/utilization. Focus of analysis is to maximize profitability and support price change recommendations.

- Special projects and ad hoc analysis as required providing quantitative analysis, reports, and modeling.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to:

- Perform all essential duties

- Demonstrate competency in moderately complex financial analysis, quantitative skills, critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities

- Exhibits initiative along with a drive to consistently seek out new information and ideas to support the business

- Utilize strong interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills necessary to communicate

effectively with all levels of management within the company

- Maintain a productive and professional demeanor while working through conflict and seeking out solutions to issues

- Develop strong internal customer cross-functional relationships to achieve goals and improve results

- Takes great satisfaction from being busy and productive and deliver results while working under general supervision

Proficiency with:

- Advanced Excel user (pivot tables, advanced formulas/filtering, financial functions, etc.)

- Advanced PowerPoint user

Knowledge:

- Understanding of business principles (finance, accounting, etc.)

- Basic financial modeling and concepts (DCF, NPV, IRR, etc.)

- General knowledge for accounting treatment of capital versus expense

Minimum Education and Certification:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Operations or Engineering

Minimum Experience:

- Typically have 0-5 years professional experience in a similar role

- Experience with Data Visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc…) is a plus

- Experience with relationship databases and (SQL) is a plus

- Experience with Excel Programming (VBA) is a plus

- Previous experience in the oil and gas industry (operations experience and/or mechanical/technical knowledge of natural gas compressors) is a plus

Leadership:

- May serve as a resource to others with less experience
