Laundry Services Technician Serves to provide for the safe operation of the Rescue Missions laundry services ministry, which operates 365 days a year. Supports the laundry needs of the Shelters and Kitchen. Assist the Shelter Supervisors in the shelter as needed.

Reports to: Facilities Administrator

Hours of Availability:
Part - Time Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6:30pm 3am; weekends & holidays as scheduled

Compensation: Starting at $15.45/hour (non-exempt/hourly)

Strong listening, as well as written & verbal communication skills to execute instructions, keep others informed and exhibit professionalism.
Demonstrated attention to detail/strong organizational skills to assist with multiple daily assignments and special projects.
Ambitious to exceed expectations.

Job Specific Qualifications:

Ability to learn and operate commercial washer and dryer equipment
Ability to organize and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
Direct volunteers in assisting the completion of assigned tasks
Willingness to work in the shelter as needed
Available to attend shelter meetings as scheduled

Additional Responsibilities
  • Safety
    • Safety is everyones responsibility
    • Be aware of safety/security concerns and report to the appropriate person(s).
    • Adhere to the safety protocols listed in the Laundry Guidelines for AM Shift

  • Volunteer Engagement: A strategy that builds the capacity of Rescue Mission through employee and volunteer partnership. It is built on the development and implementation of high-impact, meaningful volunteer opportunities that create positive outcomes for the organization and the volunteer.

All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the Facilities Administrator or the Mission Leadership team.

Career Summary (may include other duties as assigned)
Laundry Services Technicians provide laundry services for guests, participants, the shelters, and kitchen services. They inspect laundry area and equipment for proper usage. Distribute completed laundry to appropriate persons/areas. Supervise volunteers with instructions and support.

Responsible for the safety and security of the laundry area to include equipment and personal belongings.

All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the Facilities Administrator or the Mission Leadership team.

Activity may include occasional stooping, twisting, turning, pushing, pulling
Lift up to 35 pounds; not repetitive
Temperatures may vary depending on activity/events; indoor/outdoor exposure
Noise levels may vary depending on activity/event and/or location
Consistently - Communicating with others to exchange information
Frequent - Moving around to accomplish a task
