Position Overview:

This position is responsible for leading Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) activities in their respective region and participating in global efforts for Tecumseh Products Company LLC. This includes strategic planning, tactical implementation facilitation and assistance, and ongoing monitoring and auditing.

Responsibilities:

  • Works cross-functionally to develop and establish a safety-focused culture with continuous EHS improvements in their respective region.
  • Develops, plans, coordinates and directs environmental and health/safety activities to ensure employee engagement, regulatory compliance and implement the EHS management system to protect human health and the environment.
  • Coach, lead, and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner, while continuously striving to improve safety skills & awareness
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate EHS compliance activities through functional teams
  • Develop and implement Environmental, Health and Safety programs and activities for the facility to achieve, maintain and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with Tecumseh’s policies, standards and procedures
  • Responsible for directing incident investigations identifying root causes of EHS Incidents and executing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Identify and develop good working relationships with federal, state and local authorities (i.e., safety agencies, fire departments, etc.) as well as appropriate internal EHS contacts
  • Develop, coordinate and/or conduct EH&S training programs
  • Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital EHS projects to ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis. This includes recommendation of EHS capital equipment purchases and other equipment to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Lead and assist employee safety teams to understand and own safety and compliance down to the lowest level.
  • Assist in providing information for Workers Compensation requests (incident investigations).
  • Responsible for driving processes that will result in a reduction of accidents and injuries and the identification of potential hazards present in the workplace.
  • Advise, develop, and facilitate safety training to new shop floor employees and supervisors.

Required Qualification, Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 3 years EHS experience in global industrial organizations
  • Strong communicator both orally (informally and in formal presentations) and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently, in teams and across cultures
  • Expertise in leading EHS systems development including but not limited to regulatory compliance, risk management systems, safety training systems, EHS continuous improvement systems, and site preparedness and emergency plans
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards as well as their implementation and subsequent establishment of related auditing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Oracle

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in an ESG (Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance) related role, such as:
  • overseeing environmental, social and corporate governance policies and procedures
  • providing insight and technical expertise on key issues related to environmental and social impact assessments
  • identifying environmental/social risk and issues and developing mitigation measures to ensure compliance with good industry practice
