Job DescriptionJob Description

The Civil Estimator is responsible for creating and developing estimates for RHW's self-performed work, primarily for sitework and utilities that optimize project and profit objectives, and customer satisfaction, as well as solicit and review all subcontractor and vendor quotes for specifications of work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field -OR- the equivalent combination of 5+ years of recent construction industry estimating experience and education.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience of (commercial) construction industry cost estimating fundamentals and conceptual estimating techniques, performing takeoffs and pricing, and estimating sitework and site utility type projects
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, design drawings, geotechnical reports.
  • Ability to communicate with clients, engineers, subcontractors, executives, and individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Set and achieve project deadlines through goal-oriented planning.
  • Efficiently multitask, prioritize, and maintain organization under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and construction software programs (e.g. Sage/Timberline, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, ISqFt) or similar software programs.
  • Earthwork software experience (e.g. Carlson Takeoff) or similar software knowledge is a huge plus
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License.
