Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Community Engagement Assistant will assist with in maintaining meaningful volunteer and community engagement opportunities for Foundation Communities. The Community Engagement Assistant is a temporary position and will serve 10-20 hours per week for the Fall of 2024.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the execution of an annual large in-kind giving program, Home for the Holidays, benefiting 800+ families and raising more than $400,000 in direct aid support.
  • Assist with maintenance of robust volunteer records, data, and hours reporting across several program areas.
  • Represent Foundation Communities at various events as needed.
  • Engage volunteers and supporters through communications including e-mails and phone calls.
  • Implement good practices of community engagement– clear and consistent communication, follow through, recognition and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • Reliable transportation.
  • Flexible work schedule - Most hours occur between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., but volunteer projects, events, and orientations occur evenings and weekends and will be scheduled as needed.
  • Some experience coordinating volunteers, event planning and/or administrative support.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and comfort with a variety of databases.
  • Outgoing, energetic candidate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.

Skills you will gain:

  • Implementation of programs, community and volunteer engagement.
  • Effective communication and relationship cultivation.
  • Planning and execution of events.
  • Hands on experience learning the inner workings of a dynamic community engagement team at a large nonprofit.

Compensation: This a part-time position, working 10-20 hours per week with an hourly pay rate of $15/hour starting September 9 through December 31. Position requires some evening and weekend hours for events.
