Accounting Clerk

GENERAL SUMMARY

St. Matthew’s House is a faith based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to transform lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined.

The Accounting Clerk is a full-time position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting policies.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Process invoices in an Accounts Payable system ensuring proper general ledger coding.
• Works with staff members across the organization to ensure invoice and expense approvals are timely.
• Matches purchase requests to invoices.
• Maintain accounts payable files and is a primary liaison to vendors.
• Assist with preparation of journal entries along with bank and general ledger reconciliations.
• Tracks outstanding deposits and checks to ensure transactions are alignment with accounting policies.
• Prepares invoices and follow up on payments.
• Works with Accounting Manager on month end close.
• Other duties may be assigned by the Controller to support special projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Accounting or Business related major, or related experience.
• Proficiency in accounting systems, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to read computer screens.
• Mathematical, Excel and system reporting skills highly desired.
• Must be able to handle sensitive matters in a diplomatic and collaborative manner.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills are a must.
