ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensure safe patient care within the peri-op unit.
- Ensures that the sterile field is not compromised during the procedure.
- Keeps the surgical area clean and organized for the scrub and the physician.
- Assist in room turnover process and that the surgical room is sterile and safe for the patient.
- Maintains environment and supply inventory
- Prepares the patient for the procedure and handles the preparation for the operating room
- Assesses the patient’s condition after a surgical procedure and works with a physician to develop the care plan for the patient during the surgery.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Three years previous experience in acute OR setting, with at least 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the Orthopedic specialty area is preferred.
- A current, valid RN license in state of practice or equivalent per state regulations.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or obtained within 90 days of hire.
The Circulating RN is responsible for monitoring the surgical procedures and assists by acting as an intermediary between the operating room staff and the rest of the hospital.
