CK Contractors and Development is hiring Grading Foremen. This position is responsible for managing and directing grading crews involved in site work.


Essential Tasks

• Directly supervises the grading crew

• Read and understand project plans and specification

• Reports on work to Superintendent

• Experienced on all types of heavy equipment

• Knowledgeable in the areas of dirt work, including excavation, grade work, surveying and final excavating work

• Inspects work areas throughout construction process to ensure the quality and accuracy of work meets specifications and that crew meets productivity goals

• Monitors crews for organizational structure, sizing, crew mix ratios, and wage compliance in conjunction with Superintendent

• Complete required reports (production, personnel time and attendance, vehicle, safety, inspection) on a daily/weekly basis as required. Complete time sheet with pertinent information for the day’s activity and submit per payroll schedule

• Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met


Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years’ experience as a Grade Foreman; a High School Diploma or GED is preferred

• Must be able to perform the essential tasks satisfactorily

• Must be well organized with a sense of urgency

• Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with management and fellow employees

• Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards. Monitors the implementation of safety programs and processes. Provides coaching for improvement

• Ability to communicate with others is critical

• Must have reliable transportation. Periodic weekends and overtime hours are expected

• Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, hard hat, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image


Working Conditions

• This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs.; bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb in to heavy equipment several times throughout the day, and balance at heights up to 6 feet from ground level.

In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in

confined areas

• Must be able to climb on and off heavy equipment safely

• Must be capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations, using ladders or crawling, as required

• This job requires the ability to perform essential tasks in less than favorable conditions. These may include but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, sand, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time

• Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel fumes, vapors, dust, grease, and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment

Pay range is based on experience.


Job sites are located within a 70 mile radius of the greater Charlotte metro area.
