About Resident Services

HOC’s Resident Services Department strives to enhance the lives of HOC customers by coordinating and implementing a vast array of high-quality programs, services, and resources. Through collaborative partnerships with Montgomery County, the federal government, and various community-based organizations, Resident Services offers comprehensive service coordination, impactful resident programs, and robust supportive housing services to individuals and families who reside in HOC owned-managed properties or receive HOC housing subsidies, as well as applicants on HOC’s waitlist.

Reporting to the Vice President of Resident Services, the Strategic Projects Coordinator will serve as a valuable contributor to the Resident Services team with a focus on executing a diverse range of strategic projects.

Note: This is a hybrid position. Employees are eligible to work remotely two days a week once the 6-month probation period has been successfully completed.

Essential Job Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as the main project lead for key strategic initiatives such as HOC Bridge – a new direct cash assistance initiative and the HOC Volunteer Corps;
  • Assist with planning, tracking, and coordinating strategic projects in collaboration with various stakeholders;
  • Execute project-related deliverables such as focus groups and surveys;
  • Develop project-related documents such as reports, trackers, and handouts;
  • Serve as a key liaison between HOC and external partners, ensuring clear communication throughout the duration of the projects;
  • Schedule and facilitate project-related meetings with various stakeholders including participants;
  • Monitor project progress, adjust plans as necessary, and provide regular updates to senior management and all relevant stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in project coordination or program management preferably in a social services setting.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Public Administration, Business, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or a related field.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural humility, and the ability to engage sensitively and constructively with departments with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and be detail-oriented.
  • Exceptional oral communication skills including comfort with speaking publicly in a variety of settings and ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively
  • Effective written communication skills including experience with preparing reports, briefings, and other written content.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to think innovatively, independently problem-solve, and be adaptive.

* Salary Range: Grade 21- Min: $58,214 - Max: $95,502 | Salary determined by departmental budget- Offer commensurate with experience
