Truelines client, a rapidly growing insurance holding company, is carefully searching for an Insurance Controller to guide their annuity, life insurance and reinsurance accounting endeavors. The Insurance Controller reports directly to the CFO and works on-site in the Brickell area, supporting an accounting team of 10.
As the Insurance Controller You Will:
- Manage all aspects of annuity, life insurance, and reinsurance accounting, including cash management, accounts payable/receivable, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with STAT, GAAP, tax, and management standards.
- Prepare financial statements, budgets, cash-flow reports, and variance analyses.
- Provide detailed financial updates to senior management by analyzing relevant data points.
- Develop, implement, and uphold financial controls and procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Supervise approximately 10 employees across Annuity, Life Insurance, and Reinsurance Accounting departments, overseeing hiring, training, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution, fostering a productive and trustworthy work environment.
You Will Succeed as the Insurance Controller If You Have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; a Master's is preferred.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of Statutory and Reinsurance Accounting.
- 15+ years' experience, including 5+ years as an Insurance industry Controller.
- A strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance.
- Previous experience with Big 4 or Public Accounting firms.
- Proven track record in managing teams, especially in remote-first environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, growth mindset, and delivering results.
