WHAT YOU WILL DO TO HELP FURTHER THE BIAC MISSION:

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Program Manager-Adaptive Recreation/Activities oversees all components of classes and workshops, social activities and recreation programs for survivors of Brain Injury including planning, implementation, evaluation and supervises program volunteers. The Program Manager must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace with both attention to detail and a global picture of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Classes, Workshops & Social Activities

  • Coordinate and oversee all client classes and workshops.
  • Develop bi-annual calendars of classes and workshops.
  • Manage all logistics including venues, instructor/facilitator coordination, food and beverage (if applicable) and materials.
  • Ensure all classes and workshop information is posted to BIAC’s website.
  • Advertise classes and workshops through all staff communications, email blasts, and other methods as needed.
  • Coordinate, and oversee registration process, including waitlists on an ongoing basis.
  • Check references and complete background checks for volunteers as needed.
  • Attend all social activities.
  • Program Manager is accountable for the financial aspect of classes/workshops and recreation program

Recreation Programs

  • Coordinate and oversee 6 multi-day recreation programs collaborated with Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) multi-day recreation programs annually.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with program hosts and other partners throughout the entire program cycle. Ensure criteria and all paperwork required by host program is completed my participant keeping host program updated throughout the process.
  • By November 1st each year review program applications and make updates as needed, finalize the schedule for recreation programs for the upcoming calendar year and post details for each to BIAC’s website.
  • Advertise programs through all staff communications, email blasts, outreach to residential facilities, and other methods as needed.
  • Coordinate and oversee registration process, including waitlists and scholarships on an ongoing basis.
  • Check references and complete background checks for all volunteers.
  • Lead on-site volunteer training for programs hosted by outside organizations the day before and the morning multi-day programs begin.
  • Attend multiday camps hosted by other programs or be on call to assist if any issues arise.
  • This role has the flexibility to create new programs, learn to lead existing programs, and works directly with survivors.
  • Operate a multi-passenger van to transport participants and equipment to events.

Data Management, Reporting and Evaluation

  • Ensure timely, complete and accurate data entry, reporting and evaluation for all classes, workshops, and social activities.
  • With Director of MINDSOURCE, coordinate and monitor data entry, analysis and reporting processes and schedules
  • With Director of MINDSOURCE, generate and submit monthly, mid-year and annual reports for MINDSOURCE
  • Participate in the development and delivery of annual reports and presentations for MINDSOURCE as needed
  • Ensure data-driven decisions inform programmatic changes by i) reviewing evaluation findings at regular intervals, ii) participating in program development discussions based on existing data at least annually, and iii) collaborating to develop additional data analysis strategies as needed to answer key questions.

Budgeting

  • Manage and implement the Activities portions of the BIAC budget.
  • Keep an accurate running total of expenses and provide monthly summaries of financial reports and program updates to the CEO or Director of MINDSOURCE or by request.
  • Ensure budgets are met. Proactively and in a timely manner seek ways to stay within budget and seek support from Director of MINDSOURCE as needed.

Team Building & Cross Collaborations

  • Strengthen connections within program area and department.
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings as scheduled.
  • As appropriate, inform, refer and help clients enroll in other BIAC services which may include, but are not limited to recreation programs, classes and workshops, social activities, newsletter subscription, educational materials, financial support programs and ticket giveaways.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, and minimum one year of experience managing a program and/or staff in areas relevant to the position
  • Prior experience in adaptive recreation
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel within the region this position serves
  • Travel to meetings and events within the state, sometimes after hours and on weekends
  • Background check (completed by BIAC)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree, or equivalent experience, and three years of experience managing a program and/or staff in areas relevant to the position
  • Experience working with people with cognitive disabilities and/or behavioral health challenges
  • Experience with program reporting and evaluation to fulfill grant and contract requirements
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • CBIS certification (acquired within one year of employment and maintained through continuing education). BIAC provides training.
  • Valid driver’s license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Can read and interpret documents. Can draft routine reports and correspondence. Can speak effectively before groups.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) - preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Fast paced office work environment managing multiple priorities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Lifting up to 50 pounds

OTHER:

  • Travel: local, with occasional overnight travel to other locations within Colorado
  • Work Hours/ Shifts: Work hours can include daytime, evenings, and weekends and vary seasonally.
  • Hybrid work environment - on site 1-2 days per week.
