As the Manager of our newly renovated Coffee Shop at Oglebay, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the identity and success of our newest establishment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Pre-Opening Preparations:

  • Collaborate closely with senior management to develop and execute a comprehensive plan for the grand opening of our Coffee & Retail Shop, ensuring that every aspect is meticulously planned and executed to perfection.
  • Assist in the design and setup of the establishment, infusing it with a warm and inviting ambiance that reflects the unique charm of Oglebay Resort.

Team Building and Training:

  • Recruit, train, and inspire a team of baristas and support staff, instilling in them a passion for excellence, a commitment to service, and a dedication to creating memorable experiences for our guests.
  • Conduct training sessions to familiarize staff with our menu offerings, service standards, and the distinctive ambiance of our Coffee Shop.
  • Complete appropriate training listed on the human resources Training Matrix.
  • Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy; refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources.
  • Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees.

Guest Experience:

  • Set the stage for exceptional guest experiences, ensuring that every visitor feels welcomed, valued, and eager to return.
  • Anticipate guest needs and preferences, delivering personalized service and creating memorable moments that exceed expectations.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee all aspects of coffee shop operations, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and organization.
  • Work cooperatively with our Retail Purchasing manager to ensure adequate stock and exciting merchandising of goods
  • Implement efficient systems and procedures to optimize productivity, minimize waste, and ensure seamless day-to-day operations.

Marketing and Promotion:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to generate excitement and anticipation around the grand opening of our Coffee & Retail Shop, engaging with the local community and leveraging social media channels to build buzz and increase visibility.
  • Develop promotional campaigns, events, and loyalty programs to attract new guests and establish our establishment as a premier destination within Oglebay Resort.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in hospitality management, with a minimum of 4 years in a managerial role, preferably in a coffee shop setting.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team and create a positive work environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a passion for delivering outstanding service and building genuine connections with guests.
  • Solid understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a dynamic resort environment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Fourth year college or university program certificate; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
