Urban Pooch Training and Fitness Center is currently hiring for a part-time Dog Coach - Trainer to offer the best and most comprehensive pet training in the Chicago, Illinois area.

You will be a part of our Behavior Team, working with an urban pet dog population within a reinforcement-based / "force-free" framework. Issues we commonly see include leash reactivity, resource guarding, hyperarousal, separation distress, and dog- and human-directed aggression including some bite cases. You should be comfortable teaching and coaching in both individual and group settings, service-oriented, and flexible in approach while remaining dedicated to R+ techniques.


DAY-TO-DAY

Ensuring a good work-life balance, this pet training position typically works 2-3 days each week for about 16 - 24 hours. This includes at least one weekend day. Trainers may need to be available some nights as well.

As a valued member of our Behavior Team, you'll work with an urban pet dog population, employing reinforcement-based techniques in both individual and group settings. Your role involves addressing behavioral issues, conducting group obedience classes and private training sessions, and ensuring the successful execution of our services from lodging to potty and crate training. Additionally, you'll assist in sales efforts, communicate effectively with clients regarding their pets' needs, document plans, and provide ongoing updates to pet parents.


REQUIREMENTS FOR DOG COACH - TRAINER

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of dog training experience and knowledge
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and OS operating programs
  • Ability to meet the physical demands typical of this position and train active pets of all shapes and sizes

Certification from CCPDT or IAABC is preferred, but we will consider a dedicated pre-cert trainer working towards all those fancy letters. How you work is what really matters - please be prepared to share a few recent cases with our interviewing team
