The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Director of Clinical Operations to join our Advanced Primary Care team. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our primary care practices across New England. Reporting directly to the President of Advances Primary Care, this role ensures the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care while meeting key operational and value-based care performance metrics.

This position is an office-based role that will work out of our Portsmouth, NH office and will require frequent travel to our clinics across New England. Our office is in Portsmouth’s West End and offers free parking, a gym with Pelton bikes and showers, tea and coffee stations, and standing desks for each employee.


Your Impact

  • Operational Accountability & Improvement: Oversee daily primary care practice operations to ensure superior patient experience and efficient provider and staff workflows.
    • Manage key practice operations metrics, including timely response to patient inquiries, smooth check-in processes, accurate insurance verification, form completion, daily visit volumes, lab draws, and immunization administration.
    • Based on prior experience and findings from key metrics, proactively identify and find ways to optimize/adjust clinic workflows to enhance efficiency and patient care.
    • Lead practice teams to be nimble and innovative in delivering excellent primary care services to patients within a value-based care model.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across all practice sites.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation criteria.
  • Team Leadership: Build, lead, and inspire APC clinical staff to deliver exceptional patient experiences.
    • Play active role in the recruiting process for Practice Managers, providers, and support staff.
    • Train, supervise, and engage APC staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, supportive work environment.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to enhance staff development.
    • Foster teamwork and effective communication among all team members.
  • Dyad Leadership & Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with key stakeholders across the business drive innovation and ensure smooth clinical operations.
    • Collaborate with Medical Directors as a Dyad leader to establish strong clinical protocols, standards of care, and safety and compliance measures.
    • Ensure alignment and coordination between clinical and operational teams.
    • Work closely with Population Health and EMR Application Specialist teams to embed appropriate value-based care workflows into daily practice operations.
    • Coordinate with referral coordination teams to streamline patient care across multiple sites.
  • Value-Based Care Performance: Ensure practices meet key value-based care performance metrics, such as achieving repeat visit frequency based on patient illness burden, adhering to post-discharge follow-up protocols, utilizing preferred provider lists, and integrating urgent care and e-consult tools into practice operations.

Who You Are

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, public policy, health administration, business administration, or related fields
  • Experience in similar roles: 8+ years of healthcare experience and proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing multi-site primary care operations.
  • Exceptional people manager and team leader: Demonstrated success (at least 4 years) in leading, mentoring, and growing multi-disciplinary clinical teams.
  • Effective communicator (written and verbal) and cross collaborator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical and strategic operator: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive clinical and financial performance.
  • Possess regulatory knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry and primary care space: Familiarity with value-based care models, including ACOs, bundled payments, population health management, and referral management. Strong business acumen to balance clinical and financial value drivers.
  • Technically savvy: Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically SharePoint, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with healthcare IT systems, data analytics tools, and electronic health records (EHR).
