Summary:

Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Patient Account Representative for Collections to join our Business Office team This position works full-time 40 hours per week Monday through Friday.

  • Day shift schedules are Monday through Friday. There are occasional voluntary four (4) hour shifts on Saturday mornings from 8 am - 12 pm for several primary clinics (Family Medicine and Pediatrics).
  • Experience working in both primary care and specialty care clinics.

Job Duties:

  • Process credit card payments, co-pays or prepayments. Receives miscellaneous payments on collection accounts. Documents and processes payments accordingly. Notifies collection agency and appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Captures accurate patient/account information and consistently updates the account, patient and insurance records in a timely manner.
  • Verify insurance coverage for a patient and copies the insurance card as needed. Set up basic Patient Coverage records. Verify existing coverage and direct corrections or changes to insurance to appropriate Business Office Rep.
  • Uses appropriate forms for Accounts Receivable system for charges, adjustments, payments, error corrects, error removals, balance transfers, refunds, refund reversals, and communication forms. Reconciles account balances by financial class, print ledgers and claim forms, explain statement and insurance processing along with their related computer screens to patients, carriers and co-workers.


  • Must be able to make general evaluation of patient's or guarantor's willingness and ability to pay. Uses good judgment in evaluating collection and payment procedures as applied to individual accounts.

Education:

  • High school diploma including courses in business and English. Accounting and/or business office training very desirable.

Previous Experience:

  • 2-3 years previous credit/collection experience or related public relations type experience will be considered.

Salary Range:

  • $16.69 - $21.70/hour; depending on experience

This position will be posted for a minimum of three days, subsequently until filled.
