POSITION DESCRIPTION


The HVAC Technician installs, maintains, and repairs, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout this resort, including lodging rooms, vintage trailers, and common areas (reservations, lobbies, gift shop, restaurant, spa treatment rooms, and conference rooms/department offices).


Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot current HVAC system issues.
  • Repair damaged HVAC systems.
  • Inspect current HVAC systems for effectiveness and safety.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to increase longevity.
  • Conduct performance tests with specialized tools.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
  • Identify maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Communicate frequently (throughout every day) to management, updating as to progress, concerns, and activities.
  • Clean, adjust and repair systems. Perform warranty services on equipment.
  • Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to maintenance co-workers.
  • Provide guidance to employees on proper equipment operation.
  • Provide guidance to guests on proper equipment operation (if asked to by Guest Services.)
  • Maintain legible daily logs and records of all maintenance/HVAC functions.
  • Ensure compliance with appliance and vendor standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety Act; Federal and State.)
  • Comply with service standards, work instructions and guest requests.
  • Utilize the resort’s Work Order program
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all HVAC parts and equipment. Recommend purchasing of items to manager.This job summary is not intended to be all-inclusive. The employee may be requested to perform other reasonable related duties as assigned by their supervisor or management.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field. At least 3 years prior apprenticeship under a journeyperson strongly preferred.
  • Certifications required
  • Minimum of Certification or Associate’s Degree from an HVAC program at a technical school required. High school diploma or GED or equivalent required.
  • Must hold New Mexico State HVAC technician license.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
  • Working knowledge of boiler systems.
  • Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
  • Proficient in reading schematics, blue prints, and work plans.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Multi-lingual (English and Spanish).
  • Valid driver’s license required; a good driving record a plus. Must have reliable transportation.
  • Critical-thinker, problem-solver. Sense of urgency when appropriate.
  • Must be punctual and adhere to a daily schedule.
  • Ability to work safely: in confined spaces, on ladders, on roofs, and underground.
  • This is a very physically demanding job. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk throughout the resort; lift ____ lbs, climb ladders, crawl, bend, twist, use hand and electric tools, and have good manual dexterity. Requires auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
