Position Summary:

The Ammonia Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and safety management of ammonia systems within a manufacturing environment. This role involves working with ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing waste water processes. The ideal candidate must hold an ammonia certification and have experience in waste water management.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Ammonia System Management:
  • Operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
  • Perform routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance on ammonia equipment.
  • Monitor ammonia levels and system performance to ensure efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with ammonia systems promptly and effectively.
  • Waste Water Management:
  • Oversee and manage waste water treatment processes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Monitor waste water systems, including pumps, filters, and treatment units.
  • Conduct routine sampling and analysis of waste water to ensure treatment effectiveness.
  • Implement and adjust waste water treatment procedures as necessary.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements related to ammonia handling and waste water management.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of ammonia and waste water chemicals.
  • Conduct safety drills and emergency response procedures for ammonia leaks and spills.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, safety inspections, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with other maintenance and production personnel to address and resolve system issues.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding system performance, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on ammonia and waste water system operations and safety practices.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities, system performance, and compliance inspections.
  • Prepare and submit reports related to ammonia system operation and waste water treatment as required.


Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification in ammonia refrigeration is required.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Experience in waste water management and treatment processes.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance related to ammonia and waste water.
  • Skills:
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and regulations for ammonia handling.
  • Ability to operate and maintain waste water treatment systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Certifications:
  • Ammonia certification (e.g., 30-hour OSHA certification, R.A.C.E. certification, or equivalent).
