LAMM Food Service, founded in 1972 and based in Lafayette, Louisiana, is a broadline food distributor that specializes in delivering high-quality food products and exceptional customer service. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Inventory Control manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of inventory control at each location. This role involves ensuring accurate inventory counts, optimizing inventory levels, implementing inventory control procedures, and leading the inventory control team specialists.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and control the company's inventory to ensure proper stock levels are maintained. This involves monitoring loss sales reports, monitoring allocation reports, and managing all Return Authorizations so the product is properly accounted for.
  • Utilize inventory tracking systems and software to accurately monitor and record all incoming and outgoing inventory movements. Regularly update inventory databases based on cycle counts.
  • Responsible for conducting daily cycle counts and maintaining the inventory database.
  • Collaborate with the Inventory Control Support Team, and procurement teams to forecast inventory needs based on commodity pounds availability.
  • Assist demand planning when needed to monitor replenishment requests to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
  • Analyze inventory data and performance (KPI) metrics to identify trends, improve inventory turnover, and optimize inventory control strategies.
  • Distribute Aged Inventory reports to buyers and act as a liaison between Sales, Purchasing, and Inventory to ensure all departments are working proactively to move our slow-moving items.
  • Identifying slow-moving or obsolete items within our organization and moving inventory as needed to reduce company exposure.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Exceptional organizational abilities to manage inventory records, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Keen attention to detail is essential for accurate tracking of inventory and identification of discrepancies.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to interpret data, generate reports utilizing excel and inventory control software, and make data-driven decisions to improve inventory performance.
  • Proficient in using inventory management software, spreadsheets, and other relevant tools.
  • A proactive problem-solving attitude to address inventory challenges and implement effective solutions.

EDUCATION/EXPIERENCE:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must have previous experience in purchasing, inventory management, or a related field is advantageous, especially in roles involving inventory control, order fulfillment, or warehousing.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
