Position Summary:

The Human Resource Generalist supports the HR Manager across various HR initiatives including compliance, recruitment, onboarding, employee safety, and recognition programs. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring smooth HR operations and fostering a positive work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads recruitment processes for non-exempt, production, and temporary staff, employing innovative strategies to attract top talent.
  • Manages onboarding processes independently, including background checks, physicals, drug screens, and orientation logistics.
  • Conducts new hire orientations and participates in presentations to new employees.
  • Maintains vendor relationships with a focus on high-quality service delivery.
  • Supports HR operations by managing HRIS, document creation, employee file maintenance, and form management.
  • Coordinates training activities, including scheduling sessions, preparing materials, and tracking documentation.
  • Drives safety initiatives by organizing annual retraining, scheduling tests, and collaborating with subject matter experts.
  • Conducts research on HR-related projects, such as industry benchmarks, trends, and legal compliance.
  • Collaborates across departments to resolve staffing and training-related issues.
  • Monitor and document employee accidents and report recordable incidents to workers’ compensation insurance
  • Maintain and complete OSHA-required logs
  • Assist with affirmative Action reporting
  • Provides support to other departments as needed.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, etc.:

  • Associate degree in communications, Finance, Business, Human Resource Management, or Social Sciences required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources or high-volume staffing.
  • Proficiency in employment law and experience with Applicant Tracking Systems preferred.
  • Basic understanding of GMPs, HACCP, and SQF guidelines.
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams or committees.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Competency in Action Orientation, Listening, Informing, and motivating others.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly involves sitting or standing, occasional walking, reaching, lifting up to 25 pounds, and visual adjustments.

Work Environment:

  • Includes office and manufacturing environments, requiring personal protective equipment in certain areas and exposure to loud noise.
