Role: Linguist (Japanese / English Interpretation and Translation)

Location: Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey California (On-site).

Position Summary:

Valbin Corporation is seeking 10 linguist personnel for a potential contract in support of the Naval Postgraduate School. In this position, personnel will serve as translators, consecutive interpreters and simultaneous interpreters for five days (December 4 – December 8 2023) on-site at Glasgow Hall in Monterey California.

Valbin Corporation’s mission is to provide linguistic support, cultural sensitivity training, project management, and exercise support services to the US Government and private sector. Based in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area, Valbin has an established and on-going partnership with the US Government through its GSA Schedule and the Valbin Mission Readiness Support Center.

Requirements:

- Shall possess a SECRET clearance.

- Shall possess a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant interpretation and translation experience.

- Shall be available between 0800 and 0500 on December 4 – December 8 2023.

- Shall be a US citizen and possess a current U.S. passport

- Shall speak English and Japanese with native or near native fluency.

-  Possess excellent work ethics, verbal and written communication skills, and be detailed and accurate in performing all required functions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide simultaneous interpretation for 100 participants from 0800 Monday, December 5 to 1200 Friday, December 8.
  • Provide small group consecutive interpretation in break-out rooms from 0800 Tuesday, December 5 to 1420 on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
  • Provide written/electronic translation of approximately 60 pages of Word documents, averaging about 300 words per page, and no more than 75 PowerPoint slides, averaging about 50 words per slide.
