Paralegal - Labor & Employment investigations
Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid)
Salary: $95-115k / year
Job Responsibilities:
- Case Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and depositions by gathering and organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and drafting legal documents.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research on labor and employment law issues, case law, statutes, and regulations to support case strategies.
- Document Management: Draft, review, and edit legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests. Ensure accuracy and compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates on case progress, and assist with scheduling meetings and interviews.
- File Management: Maintain and organize case files, including electronic and paper documents. Ensure that all documents are filed and stored appropriately.
- Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks such as calendaring, coordinating meetings, and managing attorney schedules.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on labor and employment law preferred.
- Skills: Strong understanding of labor and employment law, excellent research and writing skills, and proficiency in legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and case management software.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
- Detail-Oriented: Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while handling independent tasks with minimal supervision.
