Position Summary:
The Clinical Director of Laboratory Services, performs the primary functions of a Hospital department leader in the overall planning, organizing, directing, and staffing in accordance with patient acuity and department activities and leading the Laboratory Services Department on a 24 hour basis. Responsible for coordinating, implementing and supervising the delivery of all inpatient care services by Laboratory staff members for outpatient, inpatient and Referral Laboratory services. Responsible for implementing care in accordance with defined standards of practice, meeting accreditation and licensing requirements, developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing equipment/supplies, budget development and implementation and promoting teamwork with physicians, their office staff and personnel of other hospital departments. Develops and implements performance improvement activities based upon national patient safety goals and evidenced based practices for critical care unit and respiratory care services. Assures meaningful department performance Improvement activities are initiated, monitored and reported to Administration. Develops and coordinates continuing education programs to insure the safe and effective administration of services using today’s technology. Works collaboratively with the departments’ Medical Directors to insure the delivery of quality and safe care and services as pertains to Laboratory procedures. Understands and commits to MCH mission and values. Demonstrates ability to work professionally and collaboratively with a culturally diverse population of patients, employees, practitioners, students and volunteers.
Qualifications:
Requires minimum bachelor's degree in Health Sciences program, or Business Administration. Prefer Masters Degree in related field.
Requires current State of California Medical Technologist/Clinical Scientist License.
Prefer Medical Training with knowledge in Diagnostic Hospital Patient Care Services. Prefer six years laboratory experience with three years supervising experience in a hospital laboratory environment.
