Installation Technician- Low Voltage

Solucient Security/Sonitrol Great Lakes is adding Installation Technicians to our team. Our Security Technicians install Intrusion Detection Solutions, Video Surveillance, Access Control, Fire and Life Safety and Emergency Notification Systems in primarily commercial environments.

Schedule and Availability Requirements:

  • This is a full-time position requiring 50-hour work weeks on average.
  • You will work 10-hour average workdays with the ability to be on Client site minimally by 8am, sometimes earlier. The schedule is confirmed the day prior for arrival time.
  • Occasional overnight travel is required. Generally, less than 15% travel in most cases.
  • Flexibility to work on Saturdays and 2nd shift hours when business needs arise.
  • Willingness and availability to work the on-call rotation for evenings and weekends. Generally, once every 10-12 weeks.

General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-call and walk-throughs with key Client contacts prior to installation.
  • Install and program pre-designed Intrusion, Video Surveillance, Access Control, Fire and Life Safety and Emergency Notification Systems.
  • Perform system checks and troubleshooting with internal Solution Design and Central Station Monitoring Teams to confirm communication into the monitoring center.
  • Educate Client on specific system functionality.
  • Provide seamless communication, completing all installation standards with the Client and following the internal process in the necessary timing.

Required Skills:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Clean criminal history and driving record and clean drug test required.
  • Proficient in proper techniques for running wire, pre-wiring with proper cable suspension, wiring panels, wire labeling, installing devices and panels, network racks, bending conduit to the device, programming, testing and troubleshooting systems within the Solucient Way Standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and create "as built" drawings,
  • 1 year of industry experience is required with experience in low voltage. Electrical background or knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficient with telecommunications technology, i.e., cellular networks, web applications, phone and basic computer and networking knowledge.
  • High standard and quality driven-- professional, dependable and customer service focused.
  • A drive to solve problems, using critical thinking skills and the ability to successfully provide demonstrations/education to clients.
  • Possess a teamwork mentality and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, hot and cold temperatures, various weather conditions, climbing ladders, working on lifts and lifting 80 to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to drive long distances.
