La Terra Fina is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Technician to enforce policies, procedures and controls to assure that all products are prepared according to the La Terra Fina and USDA standards. In this role you will recommend improvements of technical issues.

Requirements:


Primary Responsibilities

  • Daily test and sampling of products in process and finished items to evaluate product quality and safety.
  • Carry out environmental testing and experiments to evaluate food safety and quality.
  • Ensure that the experiments are done in a timely manner.
  • Ability to conduct Quality Control food testing.
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and applications
  • Daily processing and packaging process reviews.
  • Compile information and create reports.
  • Pre-operational and operational sanitation plant inspection.
  • Perform food safety and quality audits.
  • Daily review/reconciliation of all FSQ /QC reports, including HACCP and Net Wt. reporting compliance.
  • Check equipment calibration: water-meters, thermometers, etc.
  • Interface with the USDA inspection: Report immediately any discrepancies. Recommend corrective actions. Recommend preventive measures.
  • During any change to new packaging to new packaging or products, review specifications for completeness, review packaging for acceptability and verify from startup that everything is working in conformance.
  • Recommended and enforce corrective and preventive measures to improve plant sanitation, employee hygienic practices and product safety and standards.
  • Ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Assist the FSQ Manager in continuous improvement efforts and follow up on corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure that all department personnel are using proper procedures, work instructions, forms, tolls and equipment stablished for the job they perform.
  • Keep FSQ Manager informed about problems and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain and improve upon existing products and FSQ systems.
  • Create and maintain accurate inspections files and prepare reports summarizing inspection results.
  • This position has responsibilities and commitment to La Terra Fina food safety policies and practices.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 1-3 + years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, excellent communication skill.
  • Able to use best judgement in absence of Department Supervisor or Manager.
  • Perform duties with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, policies and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups employees of organizations.
  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to coordinate with, R&D, Purchasing, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, etc., products, process and controls implementation.
  • Ability to enforce processes and controls conformance. Ability to evaluate and report product and process quality.
  • Ability to recommend and implement product, process and sanitation improvements.
  • Ability to develop and implement process controls for product safety and quality.
  • Experience in USDA plants.
  • SQF audit experience.
  • Preferred Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Ability to work on cold environment.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for more than 70% of the time.
