Sante Health System is encouraging all Medical Assistants in the Fresno, CA area to apply to join our team full-time at one of our medical office teams in the Fresno, CA area. In this medical assisting position, you would provide top-notch customer service both in-person and over the phone and assist our physicians with delivering specialty care to our patients.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience, specialty background a plus.
  • NextGen and EPIC knowledge preferred.
  • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants preferred.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge in insurances and verifications.
  • Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
  • Skill in taking vital signs.
  • Skill in maintaining records and recording test results.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards including, but not limited to confidentiality.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provides patient care according to established standard practices.
  2. May perform selected clinical and administrative duties, such as referrals, authorizations, preparation of rounds, new prescriptions and refills.
  3. Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Take patient vital signs.
  4. Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies prior to rooming patients.
  5. Virtually room Telehealth patients.
  6. Check Epic in basket daily and notify physicians of prescription refill messages.
  7. Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  8. Assist physicians in preparing for minor procedures.
  9. Return patient calls within a 24-hour period.
  10. Relay provider communications to patients by phone or mail.
  11. Scan outside progress notes, procedure reports and pathology as needed based on demand.
  12. Prepare patient records and reports for physicians to review.
  13. Fills in for absent MA as needed.
  14. Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  15. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  16. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
