Park Operations Crew

Toledo Zoo & Aquarium

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium has been educating, inspiring, and providing enjoyment to our community for over 100 years. Join our team as a Park Operations Crew Member, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our zoological park. As a part of the Park Operations Crew, you'll contribute to creating a safe, enjoyable, and educational experience for our visitors. This position is non-exempt part-time position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Essential Job Functions *Duties will include, but are not limited to the following*

  • Being the first face our guest see upon entering Zoo grounds
  • Provide exceptional customer service to members & single admission guests at our Admission Gates
  • Safe operation of all Zoo Rides including the Safari Train and Carousel
  • Monitoring & facilitating experiences at exhibits including the Giraffe Deck, Barnyard, Aquarium Adventure Trail and the Aquarium Touch Tank
  • Set up and break down of events and concerts as needed
  • Maintaining the safety of our guests and animals
  • Taking direction and working independently and with a team
  • Ability to lift 35lbs., stand on your feet for up to 8 hours a day outside in the summer heat & winter cold.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling events, and other activities within the park including tents, tables, chairs & banners.
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries, providing information about exhibits, attractions, and general park logistics.
  • Collaborate with other team members to address and resolve any operational issues that may arise during daily park activities.
  • Operate and maintain various tools and equipment used in park maintenance and operations.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures, including missing/lost children, animal escape and weather related emergencies.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to uphold the park's aesthetic and cleanliness standards.
  • Monitoring and managing vehicle and pedestrian traffic both within the zoo & their parking lots
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to create a secure environment for guests, staff and our animals.

Minimum Training & Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills are a plus.
  • Work schedules include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.  
  • Must have the physical ability to work on your feet and be outdoors for several hours at a time. 
  • The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana
