Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisors coordinates the installation, repair and maintenance of facilities and machinery as it relates to the production equipment. Their job is to organize and monitor or supervise the maintenance operations of the production facility. Maintenance Supervisors also provide technical assistance to department directors and Maintenance Managers. They ensure Maintenance Technicians follow all maintenance and safety standards while performing their responsibilities in an organization. Excellence in maintenance supervision lies in reliability and a keen eye for detail. Technical skills and various crafts, such as electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry, are preferred skills. A Maintenance Supervisor also needs strong leadership skills to perform, delegate and correct duties and responsibilities.  

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervision of shift maintenance staff to include work assignments, coaching, training, evaluation, and disciplinary functions
  • Responsible for auditing completed work orders for data completeness. Assist maintenance techs in creating work orders for tasks identified by the Maintenance Technicians for equipment that needs repair or special projects
  • Responsible for managing outside contractors for maintenance work
  • Responsible, with the Planner/Scheduler, for weekly maintenance schedule, monthly and annual shutdown schedules
  • Responsible for the execution of reactive maintenance and the maintenance schedule. Only performs hands-on labor to conduct upgrading/training or to cover during an absence
  • Responsible for purchase of parts and supplies as required for emergent/reactive work
Qualifications

  • Mechanical/electrical background necessary and tech school background
  • Ability to identify issues and decide on required actions
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in maintenance supervision
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Competence to plan maintenance schedules
  • Must understand TPM
  • Experience using an ERP System for purchasing
  • Experience using a CMMS
