Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe ReStore Assistant Store Manager is responsible to assist the Store Manager with the overall management of the store's day-to-day operations as well as play an active role in planning for the ReStore’s future.

Essential Job Functions:

Operations

  • Coordinates with Store Manager administrative procedures including oversight of materials used
  • Recognizes that Restore is often one's first impression of Habitat for Humanity and ensures Habitat’s reputation and helps maintain a clean and orderly environment
  • Oversees employees and volunteers and ensures all departments are adequately covered
  • Provides quality customer service and handles grievances professionally
  • Facilitates the proper maintenance of building, equipment and vehicles
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and accident procedures
  • Makes bank deposits and ensures there is enough change for the registers each week
  • Help identify solutions to issues that may arise relating to operations so that the smooth running of the ReStore is optimally maintained

Employee & Volunteer Management

  • Implement and maintain personnel policies approved by the ReStore Director
  • Train and manage ReStore employees and volunteers in accordance with policies and ensure team is well versed about Habitat's program and local activities
  • Facilitate a positive, team-oriented environment in which all team members and volunteers are given the opportunity to achieve their full potential
  • Address and document violations of policies and code of conduct by employee members, and recommend action regarding chronic or serious situations
  • Resolve situations involving volunteers in consultation with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Store Manager
  • Evaluate employee performance and volunteers in accordance with job descriptions and performance evaluation procedures and recommend performance actions to Store Manager

Reporting and Communications

  • Attend scheduled team meetings
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator in recruiting, training and retaining volunteers.
  • Report to Store Manager any employee or volunteer issues, concerns or performance.
  • Provide weekly / monthly reports as directed by the Store Manager.

Finance and Administration

  • Monitor systems for daily cash transactions and deposits
  • Provide accurate register spreadsheet for daily sales and deposit
  • Provide backup for cashier when needed.
  • Open and close register

Policy and Planning

  • Develop and recommend policy for sales.
  • Monitor competitive merchandise market environment (pricing and practices)
  • Participate in the development and implementation of short- and long-term strategies, goals and objectives.
  • Present all policy proposals to the ReStore Director for approval.
  • Work with management team (ReStore Director, Store Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, Product Procurement Manager) to develop methods that increase sales and decrease costs. Seek assistance, when necessary, from ReStore Director and Store Manager utilizing their expertise.

Minimum Qualifications / Required Skills / Experience / Physical Requirements

  • At least 3 years of retail experience
  • Self-motivation.
  • Ability to lead, train, and manage employees and volunteers in a positive manner.
  • Knowledge of sales, marketing, and construction materials.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and email.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and unexpected shifts in priorities.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds. Work may require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling and reaching, in awkward and tiring positions.
  • Prefers fast paced and sometimes chaotic environment
  • Solutions seeker and implementer
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Licenses, Certificates, and Other Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED.
  • Successful passage of criminal background and drug screen testing.
  • Must possess valid Driver’s License

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are performed in both indoors and outdoors environment. Use of computer is required. Current work schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
