We are presently on the lookout for a dynamic professional as Electrical Engineer in Thomaston, CT.Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:The Electrical Engineer will provide technical project leadership and support by leveraging expertise in the design, prototyping, testing, and qualification of new products. This role involves utilizing a variety of Hardware Development Engineering Design Automation (EDA) tools for schematic capture, circuit simulation, and analysis, as well as CAD and PLD development tools to define and document design elements. The engineer will also employ various Software/Firmware IDEs, including Code Composer, NetBeans, and Lattice Diamond, to develop microcontroller/PLD-based instrumentation and control (I&C) products that interface with analog and digital systems.Essential Functions:
  • Lead cross-functional engineering teams in the design, development, prototyping, and testing of new products within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Generate system block diagrams, schematics, design documentation, and other engineering artifacts necessary for thorough product development documentation.
  • Ensure design compliance through analysis using hand calculations, circuit simulation tools (e.g., PSPICE), and PLD simulation tools.
  • Review design specifications to understand customer requirements and support Sales in preparing proposals for prospective customer RFQs/RFPs.
  • Identify areas for improvement in the engineering design process and provide actionable suggestions.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and designers on products, processes, and tools.
  • Support the Production team in resolving issues related to the manufacturing of new and existing products.
  • Generate product Bills of Materials, execute Engineering Change Requests, and enter them into the ERP system (Visual Manufacturing).
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • 5+ years of product design experience with electrical or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of schematic capture, circuit simulation, and other design software.
Desired/Preferred (Not Required):
  • Experience in hardware design and development of microcontroller-based embedded control systems for instrumentation and control applications.
  • Proficiency in software design and development of microcontroller-based embedded control systems using ANSI C and Java.
  • Experience in the development of analog I/O interfaces, including A/D and D/A interfaces for embedded processor and/or PLD systems.
  • Experience in selecting and programming PLD devices using VHDL.
  • Experience in EMI mitigation design, particularly with MIL-DTL-461 compliance.
  • Experience working with 480 VAC, 3-phase power systems.
  • Knowledge of industry specifications, including NEMA, UL, and MIL specs and standards.
