Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to provide design and drafting support to our Motors Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will work on Engineering Change Orders (ECNs) and support new product development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks) to create and revise production drawings, including detail and assembly drawings.
  • Convert existing production or engineering drawings to SolidWorks.
  • Complete Red Line markups from ECNs.
  • Ensure documentation complies with military and industrial standards.
  • Use measurement equipment to model from existing parts when necessary.
  • Update bills of materials using SolidWorks, EPDM, and Infor-Visual ERP systems.
  • Provide technical support to Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, and other departments as needed.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with training new employees and cross-training within the department.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience in Design/CAD.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD systems (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Knowledge of electrical mechanical systems and modern manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in a LEAN environment is a plus.
  • Must possess a strong customer focus and be able to build peer relationships.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Primarily an office-based role, with 90% of time spent at a desk and 10% interacting with manufacturing personnel in the shop (requires PPE).
  • May occasionally assist with production and testing of new products.
Training & Career Progression
  • Trains for senior technical lead in Motors Engineering.
  • Participates in training new employees in this role to promote seamless departmental operations.
