We are seeking a seasoned professional for the role of Senior R&D Advisor, a key individual contributor within our clients R&D team. In this position, you will collaborate on R&D team responsibilities and objectives, encompassing work safety, facility maintenance, regulatory compliance, assistance on diverse projects, and contributing to the team's pursuit of annual business goals. The primary focus will involve R&D project management, executing project tasks, and actively participating in various activities, including operations at manufacturing sites, vendor trials, pilot programs, process startups, product testing, benchtop experimentation, and laboratory analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

  • Lead or support R&D projects and work streams, leveraging extensive R&D engineering expertise.

  • Often serve as the most senior technical engineer on projects, demonstrating the ability to perform duties with minimal guidance.

Engineering and Analysis:

  • Conduct engineering and computational analyses, including material/energy balances and costing analysis.

Knowledge Transfer and Training:

  • Facilitate technical knowledge transfer and training on deployed projects and improvements.

Technology Exploration and Feasibility Analysis:

  • Engage in technology exploration (research) and conduct feasibility analyses for new opportunities and ideas.

Experimentation and Trials:

  • Coordinate and execute experiments and trials in laboratories, plants, and with various processes and equipment.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Generate technical reports and present results and recommendations to project/business leadership.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support on minor issues or non-project customer-focused needs.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Act as a vital member of the safety team, contributing to waste handling, chemical inventory documentation, chemical ordering, and other tasks essential for the facility's safe operation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 8 years of industrial experience in research and development, with a preference for exposure to manufacturing, operations, and process and product ROI projects.

  • Strong proficiency in project management processes, stage gate methodology, and agile/innovation approaches.

  • Knowledgeable in intellectual property (IP) management.

  • Expertise in fundamental R&D engineering skills, encompassing thermodynamics, separations, unit operations, computational analysis, and process flow design and modeling.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

  • Safety mindset and commitment, including a focus on environmental and employee safety.
