Location: Western Michigan

Position Overview: As a Substation Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the execution of substations projects from inception through to completion. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory standards. This role demands strong leadership skills, technical expertise in electrical engineering, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Execution: Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate resources, materials, and equipment to ensure timely project completion.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation, administration, and management of contracts with subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Quality and Safety Assurance: Implement and enforce quality control and safety protocols throughout all project phases. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and internal teams. Provide regular project updates, resolve issues, and manage expectations.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Proactively address issues that may impact project delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in project management within the electrical power industry, specifically with substations.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of substation design, construction, and operation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, SAP).
