The Assistant Molecular Biologist, BioPharma, will conduct high complexity laboratory testing with indirect supervision.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform high complexity molecular testing with indirect supervision as assigned to possibly include DNA and RNA extraction
  • Author detailed, accurate, and accessible records of experimental data in accordance with Good Clinical Practices.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies, and equipment in the laboratory
  • Manage and organize inventory of patient samples
  • Assist in batching samples, label printing, and verification of specimen labeling
  • Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and manual methods to track specimen status and ensure prompt turnaround time of specimens
  • Set up laboratory equipment and perform equipment maintenance independently and according to the laboratory’s standard operating procedures and maintain records
  • Maintain stringent standards for quality following CLIA, CAP, and ICH GCP regulations
  • Identify any issues which might adversely impact the quality of test results and/or employee safety, and immediately communicating these to the appropriate management representatives as necessary to ensure prompt resolution
  • Review standard operating procedures and provide input
  • Participate in Quality Assurance activities such as internal audits and inspection preparation
  • Multitask and manage production with a high emphasis on quality
  • Work in a team environment and integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner
  • May perform hazardous waste activities such as handling, disposal, moving waste drums/containers, and signing hazardous waste manifests; initial and annual RCRA training is required to perform hazardous waste management tasks


A Successful Candidate Must Possess:

  • Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences or related field (with at least 16 semester hours of chemistry and/or biological sciences) required
  • Must demonstrating the following:
    • Skills and competency to work in high throughput production environment
    • Ability to assist laboratory personnel in manual and automated processing steps and all other support functions
    • Good understanding of laboratory workflow to address laboratory needs and issues
    • Initiative to contribute to laboratory projects
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels
    • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)

  • Tuesday - Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
