Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements.
  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
  • Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
  • Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. 
  • Coordinate with other field engineers and support/maintain systems currently deployed such as:
    • Skype for Business Server and client installations
    • SQL Server
    • SharePoint Server
    • Exchange
    • Azure Stack
    • System Center
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

  • Eight years of work experience building, managing and maintaining IT systems in a production environment as described above.
  • Configure and monitor systems/servers utilizing Remote Server Administrative Tools (RSAT).
  • Systems/equipment installation, configuration, implementation, and validation of installation of components such as:
  • Microsoft (current Version) Hyper-V Manager
  • Microsoft's System Center monitoring components/methods
  • Mass storage arrays and servers
  • Dell OpenManage essentials
  • Author and utilize scripting languages, such as PowerShell, to automate tedious, repetitive, and/or error prone tasks related to installation, configuration, and management of IT systems and services
  • Installation and management of systems via hypervisors and virtualization sub-systems
  • Support a variety of networking, storage, virtualization, and other components that may span across multi-generational deployments
  • Evaluate effectiveness of existing technologies on site, and consider emerging technologies
  • Maintain cloud (examples: Azure, AWS) infrastructure systems
  • Maintain on premise cloud (examples: Azure, AWS, OpenStack) infrastructure systems
  • Add, configure, and manage Roles and Features on Microsoft Server (current Version) including but not limited to:
    • DHCP Server
    • DNS Server
    • File and Storage Services
    • Print and Document Services
    • Remote Desktop Services
  • Windows Server Update Services
  • .NET Framework
  • Failover Clustering
  • Remote Server Administration Tools
  • Windows PowerShell
  • Configure and monitor systems/servers utilizing Windows Admin Center
  • Configure and monitor systems/servers utilizing Failover Cluster Manager tools
  • Must possess an active Top Secret Clearance
